Welcome to the new look FOCSS messenger, as you will see we have a fantastic new Logo.

Many congratulations to Fraser Tod, whose design has formed a key part of the logo.  A special mention also goes to Olivia Brown, whose fox will keep appearing

All of the entries were, in the opinion of the judges, excellent pictures and as so many people put a lot of effort in with great results, we will be using them in a future project. Watch out for this later in the year.

We are now rapidly approaching the largest event on the FOCSS calendar: the annual Pet Show on Saturday 24th June.  This is our largest annual fundraiser so please try to attend, if you can. We will shortly be giving out raffle tickets for you to sell & return.

Design our Pet Show & Summer Fair Programme Cover
Every year FOCSS runs a competition for the pupils to design the programme cover for our Pet Show & Summer Fair.  We'd like to invite all wannabe artists to show us their creative talents and have a go at designing the cover for the 2016 programme.  The winning design will be chosen by Mr Ryan and will appear on all the programmes.  The winner will also receive a framed original cover to keep.  As ever, we will also try and feature as many of the other entries as possible in the programme and on thank you cards and posters, so even if you don't win, you might see your design in print!  A letter/template has gone home with your child (it has also been sent by email),draw a design for the cover on the template, one entry per pupil and all designs in by Tuesday 24 May.  Good luck!

December 2015

It was lovely to see so many families both past and present at our annual Christmas Fair.  A few but extremely willing volunteers started to set up on Friday evening and with additional help on Saturday, the fair was hugely successful.  Your generosity both before and during the event ensured a terrific £1900 was raised
The chocolate tombola was enthusiastically supported again with an incredibly close result.  Discovery Class donated an average of 20.62 items per pupil with Bramley Class the runners up with 20.29.  As a result Discovery Class enjoyed a non school uniform day as their prize.
Bag 2 School - Thank you again for the huge number of sacks and bags donated to this worthwhile recycling charity.  We have received a cheque for £128!
November 2015
It may seem early, but our Christmas fair is weeks away.  Attractions this year include...stalls for Christmas shopping, 'Secret Santa' where your child will buy you a present you have always dreamed of (tee hee), Father Christmas in his grotto, lots of fun, games and stalls for the kids, face painting, a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
As always at this time of year we ask for your help and generosity to help make this event a 'cracker'.  We'd love it if you could provide some of the items listed below:-
Cakes - for the tea room - please let Rebecca Newsom know what you'll be baking, catch her at school or email - to come into the hall on Friday 4 December.
For the following, please leave in the hall from Monday 16 November:
Wine/anything in a glass bottle - for our 'pick a bottle stall'
Chocolate - the popular chocolate competition - a non school uniform day will be awarded to the class which donates the most.  Please put in the appropriate class box in the hall

October 2015
Following an AGM and an extraordinary meeting earlier this week, we are most grateful for the following parents who have agreed to be:-

Treasurer: Mr James Tod
We are most grateful to Jo, Clare and Ali who have stood down from their officer's roles.  Their contribution to FOCSS is most appreciated.
September 2015.
FOCSS needs your help.  Last year FOCSS put on some fabulous events including the School Disco, Easter Egg Hung, Band Night, Quiz Night, Christmas Fair, Summer Fair/Pet Show and much more.  Not only did our children have a great time but we also managed to raise lots of money and we were able to spend £5,500 on 16 iPads for our children to use in class.
Many of the parents who have helped run FOCSS events for the last few years are unable to be as involved this year due to increasing commitments.  This opens up a number of opportunities for new parents to join in and get involved.  Having been part of the committee for a number of years, I can vouch for how hugely rewarding and fulfilling it has been to take part in all of the events.  I have forged new friendships, and have loved being part of the school community.  It's very informal and relaxed and there is no pressure to commit to anything you don't feel able to.  Whether you sellotape raffle tickets to prizes in your living room, or dress up as Peppa Pig at the Pet Show, it's enormous fun and incredibly rewarding to know that your efforts raise vital funds and enrich your children's school years.
Please, if you would to see FOCSS putting on events this year, help us by emailing and get more involved.  Much of the organisation happens by email, so it's easy to see what's going on and how you can participate even if you can't make it to the meeting.  It really is just the odd hour here and there - no one takes things too seriously, the kids have a great time and the money we raise is a bonus
